I just told him about how I first became a fan of his and the Packers (watching a rerun of the Ice Bowl with my grandpa), and just how much I admire him and what he's done with his foundation and all of his charity work. It was very sincere and hand-written.

I also tend to shy away from players who charge for autographs, but I certainly made an exception for Bart Starr.

After I got his autograph, it was really nice to receive updates about the Rawhide Ranch and know that my money was going to a good cause.

There are other players who charge- and I am more understanding of them than baseball players because of the physical toll on their bodies and the lack of support pre- 1989 football players receive for their injuries. Conrad Dobler for example just had his leg amputated due to his knee surgeries from football.

And sure, there are some guys I'd never send $ to so I don't. So my point is you have a choice to send off to them or not. Be nice to those that do.

Hey guys hope this Helps, I sent Starr four photographs. I didn't know that he requires $20.00 per photo. My photos were returned with this letter. I talked to Maggie his secretary. They have their own photos and you just have to send a LOR with $20.00 made out to Rawhide or the Favre foundation thing.

I think to send a $20-$35 donation for Bart Starr's signature is a great deal. I got this information from TRISTAR'S website. He is doing a public autograph signing soon and the price per autograph ticket is $165. It is a charatable donation. Mr. Starr is using his fame and the demand for his signature as a way of generating money for a cause he believes in. You get your aigned item at a very reasonable price, or you can get it the other way by going to a show and dropping a cool $165.

I personally have no problem going to the shows and getting the signatures when I have to (and paying for them), but if you can get a better deal through the mail, then go that route. I have personally paid some good money this past year that has gone to charatable donation for my autograph collection. Some has not gone to donation, but as I have said before and will say again. If you aren't willing to pay for it, then don't complain about the ones who do charge and it is widely known the money they collect goes to charity. You aren't paying Bart Starr for his autograph. You are making a charatable donation in his name, and receiving an autograph for doing so.
