Harry Potter or Twilight?

Harry Potter! I can't stand Twilight.

Speaking from a purely cinematic point of view, I cannot see the fuss about Potter. The best thing is its cast- great newcomers, and an outstanding selection of veterens. But it very much benefits from the ''emporers new clothes'' phenominon. Other then having the benefit of being based on JK Rowlings excellent writing, no one I have asked can name why the movies are good. They ''just are''. (the presence of Ralph Finness, Alan Rickman, Robbie Coltrane etc etc means nothing to most young people)

Conversly, twilight seems to suffer from a kind of ''too cool for school'' disease. For example, I know people who have not seen a second of it, yet despise it. I know people who know not a thing about Rob Pattinson, yet loathe him with a passion purely for having the audacity to play Edward Cullen. In an age where juvinile fare such as Transformers 3 is considered ''cool'' by young males, a movie with such heart-on-its-sleeve emotions such as Twilight, whereby characters actually converse with one another, and talk about love, invariably get dismissed as ''gay''. (Maybe this is just in Australia, i'm not sure) Needless to say, I much prefer the Twilight movies (1st and 3rd) I prefer the more identifiable human story as opposed to the fantasy based Potter series, despite both being school based. The Potter movies also came across as ''dumbed down'' so to speak. I remember how challenging the books were as a child, but the movies seemed comparativly facile. Also, the Twilight saga benefits from quite stunning cinematography which, once again, goes under-rated.

All that being said, the Harry Potter books are wonderful!

I am a Big Fan of Harry Potter So it will always be Harry Potter. Twilight is good but not as much as Harry Potter series

The Harry Potter movies are great and I have nothing against Harry Potter. But, I would have to say Twilight because I love romantic movies and mostly books! Also love Robert!

Ah that's pretty much exactly my feelings. Except for the whole '98 thing..I was a lame bloomer. I didn't find them until I was 11, in 2001. You beat me to the party.

I especially agree about the last movie. I'm man enough to admit that I shed quite a few tears during it lol.

Harry Potter, Twilight seems littel Girlish and the Twilight movies is not my taste I mean all the girls in my class have spoken about Robert Pattinson now in Twilight and why didn´t they spoke about him when Harry and the Golbet of fier was new? he looks the same in both, but I have never read Twilight but my cousin have and she talks about it as it would be a girl thing

To anyone that doesn't like the Twilight films, you should check out The Vampire Diaries

SO much better. Not as much repetitive sappy love stuff. But still enough to satisfy anyone looking for it lol.
