In Person Book Signing Success

Unread post by chadallen985 »

Now I know this is a little out of the norm for this website, but I have to share this. You might remember 3 years ago there was an EF5 tornado that destroyed the town of Parkersburg Iowa. The leader of the rebuilding process for the community was High School Football Coach Ed Thomas. Then in June of 2009, Coach Thomas was shot several times by a former student/ football in a makeshift weight room. He was more than just a coach and school teacher. He was a father figure and a great role model to all of us. He has 5 former players currently in the NFL. Not bad considering the town of Parkersburg has a population of just over 1800, and was named the NFL High School Coach of The Year in 2005. In 2010 ESPN honored Coach Thomas and his family with the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage.

So tonight was the book launch for the book written about the life and teachings of Coach Thomas. It was in the new high school and covered by all of the local media and even ESPN. The book is called "The Sacred Acre" The Ed Thomas Story, with the Foreward by Tony Dungy. The book was written by Mark Tabb, along with Jan Thomas.. and their sons Aaron and Todd. For you football fans, the “Sacred Acre” in Parkersburg is Ed Thomas Field. It was a full house tonight as we were able to get the first look at this book and hear from people that were involved with the book. After the event, the author and the Thomas family had a meet and greet with people and signed their books if they wanted. I have known the Thomas family for 20 years and I promise you this book is more than just football. It’s about life, and forgiveness. Coach lived by 3 words.. Faith, Family and Football. Do yourself a favor and read this book. People in the know are already saying that this book is on its way to the New York Times best sellers list. If you are interested, search Ed Thomas on youtube and you will find more on Coach. Below is my book that I had signed. I will be done with this book by the end of the weekend. If I bored you I am sorry.

I wasn't bored I was captivated. I heard about Ed Thomas after the tornado and became a fan and was sad when he was shot. I can't wait to get the book, some of the best autographs are those that transcend sports, movies etc.. You are lucky to have met his family and have the book

I had the great fortune to play for him. He was a great coach, but an even better man. You will love the book. When you read it, you will have to let me know what you think. The last 4 chapters were so hard to read.
