Re: what does JSA mean?

Please do not forget Global Authentics (GA or GAI) as a reputable 3rd party authenticator. The old company Global Authentication has a bit of a bad reputation but the new company is great. No games liek JSA or PSA.
They have done more for this hobby than JSA or PSA has every done.

I personally will never use JSA again (JSA is under FBI investigation right now anyway) and have never used PSA/DNA.

I do know of several forgers who get 'back-door' approval of all their items at PSA so be very careful with their stuff. Also because PSA/DNA's authenticators also sell autographs they will sometimes not pass authentic items if it will cause competition with their items.

Another funny thing is if you send an item authenticated by another company for s second opinion they will usually automatically fail it. For example if I were to send a Global authenticated item to PSA they would most likely fail it just because it is their direct competition. We have tested this by placing PSA/DNA approved items for sale of eBay, hiding the PSA/DNA approval sticker, then stating they are Global Authenticated and then submitting them for a PSA/DNA Quick Opinion. They then fail them. Too funny.

The authentication business is a VERY dirty business and if you only knew some of the stuff I know.

When it comes to 'proof pictures' be very wary. When we are out collecting in the street we see a lot of unknown people who have very nice cameras and ONLY take photos of the celebrities when they sign. Weird huh? I know exactly what they are doing...

In all cases it is best to do your research and find out what authentic examples of the autograph you want to buy look like.

ultimateager wrote:the best COA's are from Steiner, Tri Star or Upper Deck IMO. UDA has some of the nicest items I have ever seen. Most things with these COA's are signed infront of someone

PSA/DNA or JSA are 2 of the most reputable sources of a 3rd party authentification that are out there.

they go through so many i know for a fact that they make mistakes and pass off some items as authentic that are not.

if i buy an auto off ebay it must have at LEAST a PSA/DNA or JSA certificate. if it has both thats great otherwise its got to be something better like Steiner or UD
Upper Deck?
You have got to be kidding me!
Their cards have become questionable in recent times so i would not want any sort of item from them.
They eventually admitted to counterfeiting 600,000 cards!
"John Sepenuk, a former upper deck vice president, testified at a deposition that he was aware during his time of employment that his then-employer, (upper deck), commissioned the printing of counterfeit Yu-Gi-Oh! cards in China, court papers state".
One can only imagine what other items would be deemed fake from other parties!
How ironic is it that UD would place a holographic design on their cards to prevent others from making fraudulent UD cards when in fact, they are the one's cheating their customers....sickening!

about UD are you serious bro? yea McWilliam has done some shady stuff in the past (especially the griffey rc) and the yu-gi oh stuff but if i wanted a michael jordan autograph or tiger woods autograph (2 of the most faked autos in sports) i would pony up the cash and buy from UD no 2nd thoughts about it.

not only is the quality of the UDA stuff 2nd to NONE, all of their UDA stuff is signed infront of somebody. you also get the COA with matching serial numbers to avoid fakes.
Recent Success- Amanda Beard, Peyton Manning, Shane Battier

Best TTM Success- George W Bush, Muhammad Ali, Al Kaline

Favorite IP- Gordie Howe, Frank Thomas, Joe Torre, Joe Dumars

Care to explain why they would have fake David Beckham autographs in their recent world of sports boxes then?
Love how they state on the back of each card is sent directly to Upper Deck by David Beckham and that this certificate expressly warrants the authenticity of the depicted athlete's signature.....Beckham should
sue their asses!
He has NEVER signed for UD since his move to MLS soccer....absolute disgrace!
look into it if you dont believe me.
Here is the FAKE UPPER DECK CARD!
This is in FACT Emilio Luciano's auto and not Beckham's.
Comforting to know that UD certifies this as a Beckham auto on their card! {down}
Bear in mind that some poor bugger unbeknownst to this screw up paid $324.99 for this on ebay!
As for shady in the past, this product was releaed this year!

I am sure UD would fix the problem if the person who owned that card reported it.

Mistakes happen and stickers are put on the wrong card. I've seen it happen a couple times. If you notice it, you can contact UD and they will replace your error card.

And I was more or less talking about UDA items not cards. Mistakes are made on cards a lot because they are mostly sent from the athlete. UDA items are signed infront of representatives from UD. Any Jersey, Ball, Photo, etc. with UDAuthentification is one of the best out there... like it or not.

If you want to talk about the integrity of UD sports cards and others (razor, topps, fleer) then thats a whole other topic... because there is really no integrity in sports cards anymore

Fair enough,
Perhaps other items would be a lot more legit as opposed to their cards.
Unfortunately UD refuse to aknowledge their mistake regarding this card as they say that it must have been a disgruntled employer that made these items as there was no Beckham autographs included in this set.
Imagine telling that to the poor individual that forked out $324 on ebay!
I do see your point though regarding signed shirts, helmets etc
Autographs can get mixed up when done on stickers and passed down to the offices I suppose.

Yes Upper Deck had massive layoffs which is why a lot of workers got mad before they were unemployed... but I don't think anyone would do that on perpose.

That particular card was most likely indeed on the sell sheet (listed as one of the possible hits) but they either couldn't afford to pay Mr. Beckham to sign them or he was unwilling/unable to sign for that particular card... So the card was made but the stickers were not signed for it. It makes me believe that somehow that card was slipped in...

Do you know if there are more of that same error card out there? It would be interesting to see.

That being said... whether its PSA/JSA/Upper Deck etc etc... do some research before forking over $325 on any autograph lol. If you are going to spend that kind of $$ it doesn't hurt to do a little research yourself. People are people and they make mistakes. McWilliam from UD is a liar but not the entire company.
