Disappointing run of failures

I sent handwritten and personalised LORs along with a live concert photo that I'd taken professionally to each of these artists when they were here in London at the beginning of November and never got a single one back:

Metallica VV when they played on Later with Jools Holland
Jessie J VV on her recent tour
Katy Perry VV on her recent tour
Gene Simmons via his hotel (left photo tube with concierge!)
Tom Morello VV on his recent tour
Britney Spears VV on her recent tour

I always put in a silver pen, return postage and an address label and my business card so they can see I'm a genuine photographer. Usually I'm getting up to 50% back VV but I've not had a single success with these. I know I'm aiming high with big artists but wondered if anyone had any tips etc. They were all sent in good time. I do worry sending high quality photos in that on occasion venue staff may be keeping them - eg I've never had a success at the O2 Arena in London.

I got Jessie J VV this year but didn't get it back till about 5 months later! Also I sent to Katy Perry aswell via the SECC. Doubt we'll grt them back.

As far as I know Britney isn't signing at all VV anywhere because during this tour she sells meet & greets with her for like thousands of dollars so she's not going to sign TTM for free.

& Katy Perry isn't responding at all this tour either. I think there was one request found but it was sent to a solider overseas I believe. & I've read up on Gene, as my dad is a huge KISS fan - and I found out that he doesn't sign TTM period. =( Or atleast that's what I've read. Haven't seen any successes.

Sorry for the disappointments. I know what you mean, I've sent to Britney, Katy, and Jessie numerous times with no luck. Hopefully, we get awesome successes in the near future!

I've had the same disappointing VV responses this year.

I've had 6 VV failures through concerts this year:
Taylor Swift at the o2 Arena- UK
Taylor Swift at the M.E.N Arena- UK
Katy Perry at the Vector Arena- NZ
Justin Bieber at the M.E.N Arena- UK
Bruno Mars at the Vector Arena- NZ
Britney Spears at the o2 Arena- UK

I've only had one VV concert success this year which was Miranda Cosgrove in February.

You say you include return postage and address label, you don't include a full SASE?? I think that would probably increase your chances if you sent them an envelope and simply attached the stamps and return address label to it. most celebs don't have spare envelopes lying around in their tour bus.

Make sure the venues you send to, will pass along mail even before you send. sometimes they won't and simply toss the requests when they come in.

Thanks guys. Ryan, I used toughened cardboard photo tubes as the photos are 10 x 15 inches and rolled up so they simply pop the sticky label with my address and the stamps over the old ones on the tube. Tried to make it as simple as possible! Trying some more artists VV this week so lets see!

I think you are too professional for your own good lol makes you seem like a person in it for profit and not just a fan and celebs like unsophisticated true fans i find...also it is true britney doesnt sign anymore the rest i dont know.

Me too! I wrote to soo many venues and never got a response... I'm not very lucky this year I guess!
