I agree! I don't write to people who send out preprints, or autopens & I dont write to big names to avoid getting secretarials.whosurdaddy wrote:Actually I have no problem with preprints being sent out by celebs.,athletes, etc. I think more should send out preprints or just unsigned photos instead of sending out secretarials which fool alot of novice collectors as being authentic.Autopens are a joke and are easily recognizable. The only way to avoid the preprints, autopens, secretarials is to learn the hobby, study and avoid sending requests to those individuals.
I feel that the Autopen isn't really an insult. Since it's a reproduction of an original signature, I guess technically it would be considered "authentic."damien666 wrote:as i have said before a preprint you can tell(most of the time)
autopens and secretarials are INSULTING
I agree with you that a secretarial autograph is the ultimate insult. I would rather a celebrity reject my request than to fool me with a forged signature.
Eh, I don't really care about PP's or not. :/ Most of the time, I usually send to celebrities who send authentics. The only PP I have gotten is from Miley Cyrus, but I already have a real one from her.
The bight side is, I can obtain a photo, even though it's a PP, because I wouldn't really be able to get it anywhere else. Well, the Miley Cyrus one, that is.
On the other hand, I don't like SFM, autopen, and I extremely don't like secretarials. I just find the secretarials lame. :x Ahaha.

My personal view:
Some celebrities just havn't got the time to sit down and sign loads and loads of photos- they have other things to do. Some celebrities get up to 100 requests a day- I personally wouldn't be able to sign so many photos in one day- I havn't the time, so I doubt a celebrity would either.
Yes a PP isn't great but it's not the celebrities fault, sometimes their fanmail doesn't get to them, just to a PA, who sends out things.

I don't mind PP's. Okay sure i feel disappointed when i am expecting an authentic autograph, but i have sent out requests for pp's on occasions. But I guess it all depends on why you want an autograph and whether you are collecting them or selling them. I like auto's from celebs I admire, I do not write just for the hell of it or to collect as such. But i also like autos just as a decoration (hence why i like pps on occassions). In the end if i know a celeb doesn't sign authentics i'd rather get a free pp then nothing at all. and there are some pretty nice pp photos put there of certain celebs, and they look nice when they got a little scribble of a fake auto
Like some I realsie some celebs really get just too much mail to sign themselves. i mean how would you feel if you knew some people got autos while you never did because they celeb could only sign half of what they recieved? so I don't get mad at them, maybe disappointed but not mad.
However like everyone else I HATE SECITERIALS AND AUTO PENS!!! Because i am not a collector I have trouble telling if they are real or not and there is nothing worse then when you think you have an authentic only to be told no its a AP or Secriterial! And what gets me about them, is they are usually personalised if they are seciterial and it seems like they are trying to trick you into thinking its real. Its one thing for a machine to print a signiture on a photo, its another for a human being to forge it!
anyway i've rambled long enough, lol!

A lot of you were saying that it takes "2 seconds" to sign a picture, but you have to put it into reality. Many ceebrities do take the time to sign pictures, but for some celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston or Jhonny Depp, it would be very time consuming. Sure, it takes 2 seconds to sign one picture, but if they sign one then everyone else will want one.
Celebrities who are well known such as Jennifer Aniston, Jhonny Depp, Orlando Bloom etc get literally hundreds of thousands of requests. They also move around a lot, so they would come back to wherever their fanmail address is and there would be thousands of requests waiting, which would take more than 2 seconds to sign.
I am not saying that I enjoy recieving PrePrints, but I do think that it is unfair to say that they "should" sign something.
