Re: 2010-2011 MLB Offseason Thread
Where do you think Martin Prado will play next year? Maybe LF?

Re: 2010-2011 MLB Offseason Thread
Part of me assumes Chipper would either retire or somehow injure himself for a large part of the season, and Prado would take over 3B. They could always try to convince Uggla to move to 1B/OF, though he's always seem rather resistant to it.
Re: 2010-2011 MLB Offseason Thread
ESPN reported that Jeter turned down 3/$63 from the Yanks because he wanted a contact with 4+ years. Insane.
Re: 2010-2011 MLB Offseason Thread
I am largely ignorant to baseball, and even I know 3 years is pushing it for Jeter, let alone 4.dfreely wrote:ESPN reported that Jeter turned down 3/$63 from the Yanks because he wanted a contact with 4+ years. Insane.
Have the Mets picked up anyone good as of yet?

Re: 2010-2011 MLB Offseason Thread
I'm amazed that big a deal was even offered to Jeter in the first place. No other team wants him, it's like the Yankees want to start a bidding war when they're the only ones who showed up for the auction.
Mets haven't done anything yet. They've got a huge task of trading away a lot of dead weight.
And good news on the Shin-Soo Choo situation. He was due for mandatory military service in South Korea (which would take him away from baseball for 2 years), but would be exempt if he could help them win at the Asia Games. Korea did win, so now Choo's free to continue playing in the MLB. Sounds sorta like a bad movie plot.

Haha true, I can actually picture it: ''the only way for him to avoid the battlefield.... Is the baseball field''
Dfreely,I only got to watch the occaisional Met game on pay tv here in Australia, but from the bits I saw, the middle order batting after Wright, and certain pitchers really struggled. Is this accurate? And aren't the Mets the 2nd biggest payroll lol?

Lol.. that is so going to be the tagline.Jaffer wrote:Haha true, I can actually picture it: ''the only way for him to avoid the battlefield.... Is the baseball field''
Yep. Hitters struggled. Pitchers sorta. Santana's not what he used to be, Perez was so bad the Mets put him on the DL with what was essentially a fake injury to keep him off the team, the closer punched out his father-in-law and broke his hand. I wish I was making this stuff up. Payroll was 5th highest, but it probably was 2nd for most of the past decade.Dfreely,I only got to watch the occaisional Met game on pay tv here in Australia, but from the bits I saw, the middle order batting after Wright, and certain pitchers really struggled. Re: 2010-2011 MLB Offseason Thread
Josh Hamilton picks up the AL MVP. I like the choices with both leagues.
Detroit signs Victor Martinez, 4 years and $50 million. Giants resign Huff, 2 years and $22 million.
Yankees latest offer to Jeter is 3 years and $45 million, supposedly their final offer and still a lot more than he deserves IMO. It's like he doesn't even realize that he's 36 years old, arguably the worst defensive shortstop in baseball and had a slash line of .270/.340/.370 last season.
