It varies from half an hour to a couple of hours, I guess. I just write down all my thoughts and then compile them into a nice neat text. It really is the most time-consuming part of the process, not handwriting it, as some people say (so handwriting basically doesn't mean anything except that you probably don't own a printer :))

Let's be realistic, most celebs do not read our letters, but when they do, I'm 100% sure they respond better to a great letter printed on a computer than to a lousy one written by hand.
Favorite successes: Brian May IP, Marion Cotillard, Melanie Laurent, Emma Stone IP, Anna Friel, Lee Pace, Carey Mulligan, Amanda Seyfried, David Suchet, Anneke van Giersbergen IP, Katie Melua IP, Scarlett Johansson IP, Tom Hiddleston IP, Colin Farrell IP, Sean Bean IP
Latest successes: Abbie Cornish, Tatiana Maslany, Rob Brydon, Imogen Poots, Eva Green, Anton Lesser, David Bradley, Heidi Range, Kate Mara, Dakota Fanning, Elle Fanning, Emilia Clarke, Ciaran Hinds, Geoffrey Rush, Iain Glen, Stephen Dillane, Pedro Pascal, Conleth Hill, Tom Wlaschiha, Karine Vanasse, Hayley Atwell, Rosamund Pike, Katie Melua IP, Judi Dench, Charles Dance, Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Kerry Ellis IP, Brian May IP

I was asking about length, like number of pages.

Not too long. Not a single one longer than a whole printed A4 page.

Sounds about right. The one I just sent out was just one page, though it took up the whole page.

However, I do disagree about writing 'Dear Mr./Ms./Mrs. Last Name' at the beginning. If you're trying to be personal, you write 'Dear First Name'. That I have no doubts about.

Well, yeah, I would generally agree, but I just can't call people like Judi Dench, Maggie Smith or Ian McKellen, who are almost three times older than me, by their first names :)

I don't think age is much of an issue with that, but I suppose with those people with the special titles like Sir or Dame, it would be best to use those. But if you're writing to people who aren't also members of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire and thus don't have the extra specialty title, then just the first name is the way to go. It's best to address these people as if they're a friend of yours. Because ideally you'd like to have them as your friend, you should probably talk to them as if you're their friend.

Actually most do read our letters, I don't know who you write to but the ones I write to read my letters and often write comments how they liked something I wrote or the pictures I draw in my hand written letters. So you are 100% wrong about them liking a generic form letter on plain paper over a letter written by hand on a nice piece of stationary. I not only hand write my letters but I use nice paper. Maybe you write lousy letters by hand but I don't. 8) [ca]

He said he's had success with the way he's been doing them, so there's no sense in saying he's 100% wrong, or to judge people who don't have confidence in their own handwriting. Not every celebrity is the same. By the way, it's not uncommon for a person to think his handwriting is top notch only for others to think otherwise.

Here is a few examples below, Do you really think I would have made lana parrilla smile if I had typed my letter..NO Would nina dobrev have said I rock from a typed letter... NO Would ksenia solo have said she liked my drawings if I had printed out a letter ...NO You get the idea hand written letters are much better and I think its pretty obvious by the photos below the letters were read...you get the idea :razz: {up} [ca]

You can type letters if you choose but you will often get extra comments along with the autograph from sending a hand written letter that has some meaning and heart and soul to it.... {up}
