Re: The official football (soccer) thread

This summer has been crazy for football, With a whole load of scandals involving, Joey Barton, Cristiano Ronaldo, Barry etc and somehow all are still at their club, I am so surprised Barton is still at Newcastle as of Ronaldo and Barry as well.

Barry made his intentions clear he wanted to leave as did Ronaldo but their clubs were at a good position to keep their player because of their contracts.

Robinho i think with Scolari's influence can become a top class player but the move is now in doubt.

RoverBowden wrote:Newcastle have indeed had a good start to the season but people need to be realistic. Unless they buy 1 or even 2 strikers and a winger if/when milner goes, there is no chance of a UEFA cup place. If their squad keeps free of injuries and buys then they might be close. But with Martins out and Owen just recovering but still injury-prone, they will find it hard to score too many and wont be able to close games.
Top-half finish is realistic, but still need to spend money on a depleated squad.

And a word on Joey Barton, all people deserve a second chance but he has to go and be banned. The player is a thug and if there was any justice to good people in the world he would be gone.
Oh don't worry Newcastle fans are very realistic although to be honest probably more pessimistic! We're expecting yet another relegation battle especially after the transfer window has pretty much been unkind to us. We expected 0 points from our first 3 games pretty shocking how we managed 4!!

Joey Barton can be a very nice person, but sadly most of the time he is an idiot.

With their fan base they should be challenging the top 4.

Gutted about the Blackburn result, 4-1 to west Ham, that is terrible. Happy for Alan Curbishly after the stick hes been having. But just isn't good enough. Creating lots of chances, but not taking them. Ince is persistently playing jason Roberts who is more of a super sub. Give Derbyshire more of a chance and get McCarthy playing regularly again.

Delighted for Bullard after being called up to England squad; heres one player who plays with a smile on his face every game and gives 110%. Over the last few years, stevie G and Lampard have been terrible together, maybe a Barry and Bullard combination could work.
Latest Success: Phelps Twins, John Cleese, Kenneth Brannagh

Manchester United, Liverpool FC, Chelsea FC, Barcalona FC are my FAVOURITE leagues! My favourite international soccer team is Argentina, Spain, Portugal, and Russia! I hope Canada qualifies for the 2010 World Cups this time since their first and only qualification for the world cups in 1986 or something in Mexico. My favourite soccer players: Lionel Messi, Fernando Torres, Cristiano Ronaldo, Andrei Arshavin. CONGRATS to Spain for winning the 2008 Eurocups, Argentina for winning the 2008 Olympic Men's Soccer in Beijing for 2 times in a row, Manchester United for winning the 2008 Premier Leagues! LUV THOSE I MENTIONED!
<3 Spain and Argentina <3 (No other sport beats soccer!)
