People think that my autograph collecting hobby along with my trading card collecting hobby is weird, but it make me happy. Especially when the postman comes up the road and I start to get excited, it a great hobby! {up}

No way! I'm 18, but I LOVE The classic movies, so none of my friends know who the heck these people are, but they still think it's neat! My mom and dad do to! I love my hobby, and I'm definately not embarrased by it! Most people I meet think it's pretty cool that I have autographs from different people :)

I do sometimes feel embarrassed, only because I'm at the age where I'm in school and people tend to be more critical of what you do. I love doing it though! {up} An autograph in the post really does make my day! I'm a little embarrassed as I have only just started collecting so I don't have many to show for it. :oops:

It is always the same lady in the Post Office too, and I do get a few strange looks when I ask for books of first class stamps, or buy envelopes! :shock: I thought that was what people do at a Post Office!?

My sister thought I was a freak at first, but was used to me being 'weird' and writing to people anyway, I guess she only thought that it would never happen because when I received Philip Glenister's autograph in the post she was so excited!
My Mum has been great as she can't beleive that you can do all this through the mail and via venues and emails! She again was more excited than me!

Autograph collecting is something that I have discovered that I enjoy doing, there is no way that I am going to stop because of others criticizing me. I do find it hard to write the LOR without sounding obsessive or stalker - like! I must be doing something right if I have been lucky to get some replies back! :mrgreen:

Somethimes, it depends on the person and picture. WOW your doing it for DofE, well i hope you dont feel embassed any more talking to friends about it. I teach DofE with the ACF and i have the Skills section on a presention board cover with Autograph collecting, and what catchs people when they stop thinking silly thoughts is the fact that I have got people like Andy McNab (Author Bravo Two Zero )in my collection. Just make sure you get a good assesor and he or she writes your project up really nice

Wow, this is crazy! I thought I was the only one! :neutral: I don't know why I feel that way, perhaps because I could be filling my time doing more time manageable things. :? None of my friends know that I collect though, not even my boyfriends. It's just something I would rather not share. My family thinks it's cool though.

my last autographs were received because of my parents, who told me to go stagedoor after we saw "Hair," so I don't have the same problem as the previous poster, but I was embarrassed earlier in the year when I wrote a letter to someone three years younger than me and had to call him "Mr." Well, technically "Herr," because he's German. (And I was even more embarrassed to say that his sports skills aren't the reason I like him, though I obviously didn't include that in the letter, especially considering I don't speak German.)

Most of my autographs are in person; since February or so I've gotten 10 autographs in person and only one through the mail.
