Yet another reason I'm pretty sure that misleading other members to think that sending out their personal address is a good idea is another reason to keep an eye out for this member ! That and she may want to beef up on her research on identity theft...sheesh !

Your post in that thread was that you only needed your current address to file a "change of address" in a post office. I said if that was the case in the country you lived in, it must be weird, I did not know you lived in the US so I was not calling the US wierd [sic] per se.

In addition, I never advocated giving out your address online (in fact I said it wasn't such a good idea, but it was up to the individual to make their choice), I just said that fear of identity theft wasn't a good reason to close a thread (which was the reason you gave).

As for my research on identity theft - according to the Australia Post web site you need photo ID to change addresses, on http://www.usps.com you need that for mail forwarding and with a change of address they send something to the old address first to confirm mail change (so there goes the identity theft idea).

You're welcome to keep an eye on me though, or even contact me directly if you have a problem. Did you not think I would see this?

I have to say, a personal disagreement shouldn't put me in the "beware" category.

To be 100% honest, no, I didn't realize that anyone besides moderators could read this forum. As well, I'm not going to argue either, however it's not a good idea to encourage others to give out their information. Documents can be forged, etc. etc., and I would much rather see every member on this board be safe, rather than sorry when it comes to serious issues like identity theft (or even worse would be a stalker considering the information being given out!). That was why I asked for the thread to be locked. I was made aware that the minimum age was 13 for joining the forums and I know I wouldn't want my 13 year old giving out my address to literally anyone and everyone . That being said, the topic is locked, which hopefully will put everyone's mind at ease. No harm, no foul.
