PMs stuck in outbox, not getting sent

Hi, over the last 2 days i've tried sending a couple of PMs, but they're still lying in my outbox. I've noticed in the past that it takes a while before the PM leaves the outbox, but this time the messages are still there after quite a few hours.
I havent really changed any settings, i've been trying to PM the same people that i could successfully message earlier. can anyone help?

PMs remain in your outbox until they're actually read by the recipient If they're still there, either the person hasn't been online at all, or just hasn't had time to read it yet.

Yes thats a bit confusing, it takes time for new users to discover that.

Perhaps we can make it more clear by actually stating that "your recipient has read the message" or smt along the lines..
