are you guys ever discouraged from mailing?

I got really discouraged around the filming of Twilight when I spent a lot of money to send little packages to Robert, Kristen and Kellan and got nothing back. Maybe I sent too late which is greatly possible and my fault but after that I gave up on collecting for a bit and now I'm looking up addresses to send out some more and hope for the best

I know exactly how you feel! i was greatly discouraged last year when i heard about all the secretarial autographs being sent out that i stopped all together. So its been a year since i've sent something and it was only yesterday that i sent off to Taylor Kitsch. YAY!! But i wish you the best. Lets hope for more 2009 successes! *hugs*

I typically dont' get that way. I do my research and confirm addresses before even writing a request. {thumb2} And I've learned that it's just easier to send a normal request instead of sending gifts and such, cause liek you said you never got anything back.

Aww Yeah. I don't know how long it's been for me. Almost a year. A few months ago I youtubed Savannah Outen and got one from her so that was really sweet but I havent mailed since. I just feel sometimes it's so much money in reality to send without good certainty. I also hate how some of my fave stars don't seem to sign TTM (Gossip Girl cast... Secret Life Cast.. Hayden Panettiere... ) and the list goes on. At least a lot of the Disney kids do and I absolutely loveeee them. I hope to get a few sent out in coming weeks.

Another big diss for me was when I contacted a venue aly and aj were performing at in advance and organized someone passing on my mail. I made them nice cards and everything and the person told me they took what i sent with them but I never got anything back either (and i included a SASE) But i have met them and got stuff signed before but i really wanted one of their images personalized

I requested a few SFM so hopefully that will get my hopes up.

Another thing that has been bugging me as since the price of a stamp has increased, I don't know how many I should be putting on my SASE for sending from US to US. I used to do 2 back when they were 39 but now they are 42 so possibly 3? Sometimes You never know LOL.

I also heard some people got back harry Potter cast PP for just sending a letter so I may try that too I gotta stay posted to Fanmail more often {thumb2}

Yeah, I usually never do and the time I thought it would be nice, nadda. Im hoping this year will be different. I really want a personalized Demi Lovato auto so that is one I really want and of course Twilight cast. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for the comment on my collection. It keeps getting bigger every year. I saw that you unsure of how many stamps to put on your SASE's. I put a .42 on each business sized envelope (#10). For 9x12's I put two stamps.

You think 2 is enough? I usually don't send my own photos and if I do it's just from a magazine. Im just always afraid to put too much or too little I feel the more confident I am in getting responses the more I send and I would love to send out a new wave of requests

Yes two is plenty! No sense in putting two stamps on each envelope (Except 9x12) 'cause you could have sent another request with those.

Thanks for the help! I always send my request using the size envelope big enough to fit an 8x11 piece of paper. I think they are 9x12s

I'm excited to send out more! Haha. Tonight I think im going to go through my autograph binder
