We moderators need power to ban spammers.

Every day i am finding more than 3 spammer accounts and i'm frustrated that i can only warn them, not ban them. Maybe all moderators who have been mods for more than 3 months and are good users can be given power to ban all spammers. I just found a user who posted porn and he needs to be banned now! It's frustrating these idiots keep on ruining the site for others. We moderators need power to ban the spammers as not all of us have the power for this.

What do you guys reckon?

I am not sure how this power is granted, as I know myself and Shambler both are able to ban users. If there's someone who needs to be banned- people can pm me a link to their profile, and it will be dealt with within 12hrs... but that's not much of a solution.

I agree with you and I disagree with you at the same time. I agree because it is very hard to keep up with all the spammers that are flooding the forums day in and day out. I disagree though because when ever those options become available it ends up being abused one way or another. I am not saying you or anyone is gonna abuse that power but it does happen. I think admin needs to upgrade the system. There was a period when spammers were non existent. We need to try that again. whatever it was

Well, 3 months sounds a bit extreme..I've been a mod for more than a year now and I still don't have the opportunity to ban, delete posts or delete topics (except on the Mod forums).

Well that is strange.

I have been a full mod for about 2 weeks now and i can delete topics and delete posts. I cant ban people though as much as i would like to ban one certain user

Well i can ban people,delete posts or so! maybye admin selects a few to do this?and i know its SO frustrated!!! i must ban 2-3 spammers the day and delete many spamming posts..they are getting more and more everyday :S specially porn ones..

It seems that most of zanne's team have the powers to ban, but others don't. Try PMing your team leader or admin.

Same here. It's a bit annoying not to be able to delete a spam when I come across it...A few weeks ago I thought only GMs can ban users and now it showed up half of the Mods can? It's weird, isn't it? I am wondering why it is so.

You're right, Rob - I've noticed that too... I haven't spoken to all of my team yet but I know some confirmed that they can indeed ban and I've seen some others banning spammers too in the "Moderator Control Panel".

Only except I don't thing admin wants the spammers banned - he banned one of my helpful mods corekid for the reason "Banning without reasoning". And corekid was only banning spammers, as I told him to do! :mad: Luckily I've unbanned him but I'm really upset that admin banned (and IP ban, yes!) him in the first place - IT WAS ONLY SPAMMERS, thanks to the ban list which keep getting cleaned out!
