autograph flaking need help
I got a autograph in the mail today. It seems he used a paint pen because everytime you touch it or it touches the plastic the autograph flakes and smudges. Any suggestions on what to do. Someone told me hairspray but im not sure. Please help. Thanks

I dont really know, but if you think you could send for it again, I would go for it. Or you could take a picture that didn't turn out of your own, autograph it, then spray and see if it damages.

To be honest I wouldn't hairspray it! If nothing else then it will leave your photo sticky and much more likely to pick up dust/dirt/fingerprints etc.
I would do as I recommended to class316 ( http://www.absolute-fan.com/mboard/view ... hp?t=11817 ) and mount it in a "spaced" frame so that the glass does not touch the photo.
I know the problem well, as the host of The Weakest Link - Anne Robinson also signs in an "erasable" pen!!!!! I did in fact have to re-write to her to request her auto again as the first one I got was so badly damaged!!!
Good luck {thumb2}
Just thought of something about the hairspray idea, back when I was in high school, I worked in a grocery store. a little trick they had to remove marker writing from walls and things was to use hairspray. it breaks down the ink, so what Im saying is dont use it
The same thing goes for liquid butane (Lighter Fluid) It removes ink and also removes sticky tag residue.
