If you could afford to buy your most wanted, would you?

Unread post by margotchanning »

Ok, so your most wanted autograph is someone impossible to get ttm or ip and is VERY expensive to buy! If you had the money, would you blow it on the autograph?

I know I wouldn't be able to warrant spending hundreds of pounds on an autograph. The most I've ever paid is £75 and I can't see myself doing that again. I would love authentic autographs from Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers but I just can't justify spending so much money on a signed photo when there are more necessary things to buy.

Do any of you share my opinion or am i just thrifty? :lol:

I think I could justify spending a few hundred pounds on a good Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant, Spencer Tracy etc etc autograph.

My feeling is, if women can go out and spend £500 on a pair of shoes and think it's a "bargain" then why not save and spend that much for something once touched by and signed by someone I admire very much and who has given me countless hours of pleasure? At least I wouldn't decide the next day they no longer matched my hair colour or something, so I'd need to buy more. :lol:

It would be a little bit of cinema history after all.

If I could afford it, why not. Although my most wanted are a bit expensive. ea. James Dean, George Reeves. I think autographs like that can be very good investments.

Hi! ;)

You know, honestly, I have this weird "phobia" of buying autographs, or even trading. I just don't do it! :lol: It's really nothing I have against it (although I feel that it's not really my autograph, as if it wasn't specially signed just for me) as it's great if you're able to buy one which you wouldn't have got otherwise. {up} But I'm a bit weird: I'd rather live without having my most wanted than buying an autograph. :oops: I mean, of course you can still be a huge fan of someone and not have their autograph! :D To me, autographs aren't my life - they're just nice to have. :)

Besides, I somehow always end up getting a personal autograph signed for just me TTM or in person. :mrgreen:

I know you do! You make me so jealous :lol:

I kind of agree with you. I only buy autographs if it's someone I'm never going to get myself as I much prefer personalised ones.

I think there are more important things to spend money on than autographs. Even if I had thousands of pounds to just blow on autographs, I don't think I could justify spending it! I'd rather give the money to charity :)

Hmm hard question

1) Samantha Janus - One of the hardest EE cast to get an autograph through the mail. But if i could meet her IP i think it would be easier. However i think there are a lot of fakes on ebay and the prices they go for arent worth it if i have doubts about the autograph
2) Rihanna - Shes my idol. When she tours again, i will be sending to most of the venues in England she is performing at. Id love her autograph. A lot on ebay are fakes and again i wouldnt want to spend loads on one. Id rather obtain one ttm as ill feel like ive achieved something amazing.

Lady GaGa and Cascada are my other two most wanted. Cascada i will send to soon but i wouldnt buy one as i think i could get one via her agent as she said on her website. Lady GaGa im not a MASSIVE fan but im a fan so i wouldnt buy her autograph straight away {thumb2}

Id only spend money on autographs if i really want to and im sure about it {up}

That is very true. But it was just an example of what some female my age could think was worth £500, and how I would rather put that kind of money towards something other than vanity and something that would last longer than my whim. :D

If I could afford it of course I would! Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz are my too top auto's I would love. And the only way would be to buy it or bid on it. Which I am sure would be a lot of money!
