Goldfish in an 14L tank?

Unread post by SophieBooty »

Hi! ;-)
Random question I know, but in a couple of weeks I'm getting a fish tank for my room, (It's 14L)
Does anybody know how many goldfish I could keep happily in that size?
I want to keep two, but I'm not going to do that if there isn't enough room for two.
I don't want to harm the fish so any opinions would be appreciated!
Thank you! {up}

i dont know anything about liters :oops: but for gallons... the "rule" is one fish per gallon...

if you can find how many liters equal a gallon... then you are set..

but a few years ago i had about 12 fish in a 10 gallon tank... and they lived for a few years!!!

{thumb2} good luck!!!

Thank you for the advice twilighter!
I'm getting a 14L tank now, so that might be a bit better for them, and in the picture, there are two fish in the tank. {up}

You cannot permanently keep Goldfish in a tank that small. Goldfish sold at stores are often small, but they can easily grow over a foot long.

KOI get that big your average goldfish do not.

14 L = 3.69840 gal

But I would do 1 fish per gallon rule. So I would just put 2 in there

Yes, Goldfish DO get that big, and Koi are even bigger.

You should also ignore the "one fish per gallon" rule and any similar rules, as they're widely discredited among fishkeepers.

Goldfish can grow to a length of about 16 - 20 cm (6.3 - 7.87 in). However, this is rare, and few goldfish reach this size

I've seen Goldfish a foot long with my own eyes - it isn't rare at all. It's just that you won't see them in stores because they sell young ones.
