Moderators...

Unread post by beecs »

Is there any way I can become a moderator, I love this hobby and helping new collectors on this site.

I know there is probably no spaces left or anything but I thought I would just see how I would go about it! Can anyone give me any advice, any other TM or Mods out there!

I would appreciate any response, thanks

Hi!
You have to be a trainee moderator first but of course you can apply to be one! ;) I'm sure you'd be a great one. So how to apply? If you check the right upper corner, you'll see User Control Panel. There you go under Usergroups. And there you'll find a list of groups you can join. If you'll be a good trainee moderator (and I bet you will be), you can become after 3 months of more a full moderator. Good luck ;)

Hey Ursha,

Thanks for the advice, I have applied to join the Trainee Moderators User Group page, do I have to apply to them all or just the one I would like to join?

Cheers,

 Wow, this moderator system is even more broken than I thought it was.

Either way, good luck beecs.

On any other forum, someone generally becomes a moderator after they've served a certain amount of time and have earned respectability from their peers, as well as current moderators and the administrators, and are believed to be able to handle the job of having to edit/delete threads when necessary. You don't apply to be one, you're asked to be one.

Here on the other hand, anyone can apply to become a "trainee moderator" (a ridiculously pointless system to have in the first place) and become a moderator just three months later. I already knew that it was a bad system, I just didn't know exactly how bad until ursha pointed it out.

Applying to become a TM or Mod doesn't necessarily mean you will become one. True, Admin might be less "picky" about those he chooses to become TM's and Mod's on his team, therefore he has a larger team. Some GM's don't even have TM's on their team, some have one or two, others have a few more. Every team is different. But all in all, it's up to the GM and their own philosophy on who is qualified enough to become a TM or Mod on their own team. I am glad to be part of Chrissy's team, she has a solid selection of members on her team.

beecs, since Chrissy no longer participates in this forum, I wouldn't recommend applying for her team.

Certainly, applying doesn't necessary mean one will become a moderator, but the standards just simply shouldn't be that low, nor should there be a "trainee moderator" position. Just look at the numbers.. this forum has only 22,000 members, but has a moderation team of over 100 members.
