I waited until after he spoke (about an hour) but this time positioned myself between the stairs and the conference room and then tried to judge which door he would be coming out of. It's always a little easier with dignitaries and government officials because there were 3 doors; 2 had no one standing by them and the other had 2 men in black suits and ear pieces. I decided to stick close to that one.
After a few more remarks, the door with the bodyguards opened and General Petraeus along with a few more bodyguards and other men in military uniforms came out. I approached him and asked him if he would mind signing an autograph, he said "certainly" and stopped to sign my collage I made. He was a really nice guy.
