About sendind (from Spain)

Unread post by crazylife »

Hello!! and good morning! :D...Ten minutes ago i went to my nearest post office (In Spain, his name is "Correos") and i asked the person who work here if they have a SASE for sell and she told me that she doesn't know what is a SASE, then, i told her that i want to send a letter to a American friend (Abigail Breslin..yes i know, she is not my friend.....yet xDDDD) and she told me that the best i can do is go to the post central.

When I've arrived home I've phoned to the central and I've explained her the situation and I've asked her if what i need is a IRC..and she told me more or less: "Yes, you need an IRC, that is the envelope inside the envelope that you want to send."
But i thought that an IRC was like a stamp...and now I'm confuse :S

So..can someone give me more details about my case (IRCs..SASEs in Spain etc)?

Thank for read me ^^,

Byee!!!

I know I can do it ^^

Hi!

A SASE is a Self-Adressed Stamped Envelope. You use them if you have American/Britisch/French/... stamps. So if you expect an answer from the United States, you have to put American stamps on the SASE.

If you don't have American stamps, you can add a SAE (self-adressed envelope) and some IRCs. An IRC is a coupon that you can exange for stamps. So if you add IRCs to your letter, Abigail can exchange them for American stamps.

Hope I've helped a bit :)

Hey,

yeah you can send a SAE and some IRCs. Sometimes people say it increase the chances of a reply when you use stamps, but I've had succes with stamps and IRCs. Also using stamps is cheaper when you are planning to send more request to the States or other countries.

I guess the photos 10x15 is in centimeters? I think it is the normal size. Sometimes I even sent 20x25cm photos. I don't think size matters (but I'm not sure though), but they must fit in your SAE :D.

Yes, this forum also helped me a lot :)! I'm not sure if my English is improving, I make quite a lot of mistakes :)!

Hi!

If you use an envelope with your address and stamps on it, it is an SASE. If you don't put stamps on the envelope with your address it is a SAE. So if you are going to use stamps, it is a SASE :D.

But you have to put American stamps on it, no Spanish! So I'm not sure if they sell American stamps at the correos, but in the selling section of this forum, you can either trade or buy American stamps.

Thanks :)! I understand you too :)

An SAE is a Self Addressed Envelope. In other words, a regular envelope that you have written your address on. You dont "buy" these, you just use one of your own envelopes and write your address on it.
An SASE is a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope. So the same, but with stamps on.

Now, for sending from USA to Spain, you'll need an SAE (so a regular envelope that you have written your address on) and some form of payment.

This can be either American stamps (using Spanish ones will not work), or IRC. If you use stamps, you stick them onto the envelope as normal. If you buy IRC you just put them in the outside envelope along with your SAE and letter. Abigail will swap these for American stamps at her post office.

Finding American stamps can be difficult from outside of the country. You can buy them off members here (see the Autographs for Sale/Exchange section). It is often cheaper to use stamps, but may be easier for yourself to use IRC.
Favourite: David Tennant IP, John Barrowman IP, Patrick Stewart IP, Catherine Tate VV.
Newest: John Simm IP, Suranne Jones IP, Jonathan Groff IP.

Okkk!!! I know that it can seems stupid but i thought the SASEs/SAEs was like special envelopes! xDDD

Unfortunately it's very very difficult get an American stamp here in Spain..I'll go to my nearest smoke shop, at best i have luck jeje..so...wish me luck!!

Okii..as i said seb89 i'll try to get some American stamps, it would be a great idea trade/buy them to the users of this forum but i don't have credit card and i can't pay them :(

Thank you very much..uff you've "helped" me (both)

And finally...I UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING!!! (or that is what i think xDDDD)

summarizing...I need...

1-An envelope (obviusly xD) and inside this:

2-A SASE/SAE (deppend if i can find a American stamp or not)
3-Stamp [for a SASE]
3-IRCs [for a SASE]
4-The letter
5-A 15x10 photo of her (this:http://www.lahiguera.net/cinemania/acto ... reslin.jpg)

And optionally:
A photo of me and as i know to do some paper figures (origami) i will made her a paper flower jeje...

And also, the SASE/SAE must to be higger than the photo (about 20x15 or more or less...) and my envelope must to be quite big too....ok i think all is ok..yes? jeje

Something more...as i explained in another post..i'm going to go to my nearest park and in the grass i'm going to form the sentence "Hello Abbie!" with a lot of stones..i will delay one hour or maybe more but i think it will be precious for her..then i will made the photo..so in the photo will be me, the grass, and the sentence jeje...and behind the photo i'll write this:
"For the little big Abigail Breslin, the best actress in the world"

What do you think about all that?? jejeje

Byeee!!! YOU'RE THE BEST

P.S.: Do you think that is very important the difference between use directly a American stamp, or use some IRCs (about receive the autograph)?

It depends of the celebrity you're writing to. I think you shouldn't have any problems with that as Abigail signs also for those that don't send SASE (according to the successes that were received in past).
Thanks to Seb for my beautiful set! :)
