I got myself in a pickle lol
So today is Sunday and I was getting a few requests ready to send out tomorrow. One is for Patrick Stewart. Well I put everything in my envelope (or so I thought) and put 9 stamps on the envelope and sealed it. It was at this point that I realized I forgot to include any IRCs, since Mr. Stewart is in the UK and my SAE is addressed to me in the US.
If I hadn't already placed 9 stamps on the envelope I'd rip it open and start again.....but I don't want to do that now because I don't want to waste 9 whole stamps. So here are my questions:
1.) Can I open the envelope neatly, place the IRCs inside and then re-seal it with double sided tape? I know you're not supposed to use tape on envelopes, but since it is double sided tape and it would go on the inside of the envelope flap, it's not like the post office would even notice it because it wouldn't be visable.
or
2.) Should I just leave it as it is and hope that Mr. Stewart pays for return postage himself? Is he even known to do that? I think it's kind of rude of my not to include IRCs, but I don't want to mess up the envelope and stamps either....so if he's known to pay for return postage himself, then this may be the better option for me so I don't accidentally tear the envelope beyond repair!
Argh!!!

I've used tape on envelopes that wouldn't stick before and there's been no problem

I use tape on the outside of envelopes all the time. In fact, I've received letters back with tape on them from people I know personally who I know didn't put it on themselves, so I'm assuming the post office actually did it.
I also just recently received an envelope from someone in the UK that was tapped shut. No issues.
There's no issue with tape on envelopes, you just can't tape over your stamps.
