Bookplates?

can someone explain 'bookplates' to me?

I tried searching but find anything that would really help me.

A bookplate is basically a sticker that an author signs, then can be placed into a book, typically on the main page under the title or blank page. some have designs on them and others are simply blank.

Totally!! If you're not able to meet author's or celebrities in-person to have them sign the books, a bookplate is the next best thing. I have several that I've gotten.
