Some Questions I had...

Unread post by mikeskullx »

I was planning on sending some people letters who live in other countries. Im new to sending celebrities mail and I was wondering a few things...

1. How big should the package be? I planned on printing photos from my Kodak printer and they are somewhat small, but I dont want the letter to bend!

2. The IRC is something that confuses me... How many of those should I send... For example to the UK? or does it depend on the size of the package... and would my post office have them?

Thanks everyone for your time and your replies...

Hi mikeskullx

Welcome to the forum!

Here are your answers to your questions:

1. I don't know what size photos you're planning to send to a celebrity, but the general rule when sending your own photos is to send a self addressed envelope (SAE) big enough to enclose the photos you send so that they can be returned. For example, if you're sending 8x10 photos, you'll want to send an SAE that will fit the photo to be returned (i.e. 9x12 SAE.) Your package can be any size you want - big or small. You'll need to send a package big enough to hold your letter/request, photos, SAE and IRC's (don't forget to put enough postage on your envelope). If you want to make sure that the letter won't bend, you can add a piece of cardboard to fit the size of your SAE, or write "Do Not Bend" on both envelopes.

2. The amount of IRC's you send will depend on the size of your SAE. 1 IRC will cover an envelope the size of 1 standard letter. If your SAE is big (such as a 9x12 envelope,) you will need 2 IRC's (3 to be safe.) This is the general rule for all countries. Your post office should sell them (although not all of them do.) Just make sure to ask for "International Reply Coupons" - although you may have to explain to them what they are if they don't know. If not, you may need to go to a bigger post office or ask them to order some in. Also, make sure that when you buy the IRC's that they stamp them in the box on the left hand side of the IRC.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.
