He was born on April 28, 1918 and grew up in Verona, New Jersey. He scored 13.5 victories with the 361st FS, 356th Fighter Group, in Europe, being the top ace of this group. He achieved all but three of his kills in Mustangs, largely in the final months of the war. After the war he rejoined the NJ Air National Guard, and served on active duty during the Korean War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force in 1978 with the rank of Major General.

I got my pictures back today, unsigned with a note from one of Don's family members saying he could not sign because of failing health. Its probably not a good idea to send anything to Don to sign right now. I think we need to send prayers his way instead.

caappy, many successes thanks to you. Lots of aces have sent back pictures. Got a long letter from Fred Dungan when he saw my address here in RI. He was stationed in Quonset Point NAS early on. I wonder how you find the addresses of these veterans.
