Who really responds?

Hi, my question is - who really responds by him/herself? I am a newbie in this "business" and I have read many stories, rumours or not, about autopens, secretaries and so on - e.g. Mark Hamill.
Any advice will be really appreciated, thank you, guys :)

There are quite a few one that comes to my mind is Dana Delany she does everything herself. There are a lot of people who really sign and a few who will send you preprints/ autopens and some people don't respond at all it bascially comes down to who it is. If you need any help ask me.
