Selena, isn't she dead? Or are you talking about a different Selena?
Personally I never send out anything that can't be replaced, which is a good rule for anyone.
I only collect signed 8x10's (and maybe some movie memorabilia), so nothing that I can't print out again. I would consider sending a cast shot that's already signed by 1 star to another, but only if the person I'm sending to is known for good ttm signing habits.
About your punctuation. You are improving. {thumb2}

I guess it's just a chance you take. If it's something you truely can't live without or can't get another one of then you don't send it but a dvd? Worst case scenerio is you go buy another one.
I've been debating on sending my Rowdi Yates action figure to him to get signed. I don't think I could find another if I didnt get it back but then again I guess I could live without it. It would be sooooo cool to have it in my collection signed!
Just a decision we have to make I guess and when you do send it off you should look at it that you'll never see it again. That way you won't be higly dissapointed if you don't.
Good luck with all your requests and such.

I don't get worried because I can buy those items (cd/dvd sleeves) again if I want to.
Only one of my cd sleeves didn't come back.. I'm a little disappointed about that but at the same time I don't regret sending it

Before sending anything that is of value to me i look through the feedback pages on this website first to see if there is a lot of successes from that celeb and only send if there has been successes recently.

Re: how can people send really nice items and not get worried
If I'm sending something that's been previously autogaphed, I try to send something that I have more than one autograph from the person. As far as DVD stuff goes, I send the insert part usually, so if it doesn't come back, it's no big deal to me.

The general rule of thumb is "if you can't live without it, or can't afford to lose it, then don't send it"
Only send items that, if for some reason don't come back, you won't be heartbroken.

Re: how can people send really nice items and not get worried
It's not secret that somethings you have of a celebrity on it is very risky when you try to send it through mail to get it signed. I never did that and I most likely will never. I think some people just have some confidence because they probably really want to get that certain item signed and just keep thinking they'll get it back. I would be scared if I never got the item I sent back, like a DVD cover I've kept for many years or a CD booklet. Just think of it like a garage sale, when people have these things, they're so old, they want to get rid of it. I'd just send a photo I printed off if I want an autograph or maybe just send a SASE and letter because it's something I don't have to worry about because I can keep printing those photos.
