You want the letter to reach the theater before the performance but not too much before or it might get set aside and forgotten. If you have no idea how long mail takes from where you live to this address call and ask your local post office. I'd try to get it there a half a week in advance, a week at most. But if you can't be certain of delivery times send it a little earlier to be certain and then call and remind them to pass it along.

Also, not all venues pass along fan mail. You may wish to call and ask first. That's what I've been doing. You could try emailing them from the link above but there is no guarantee they will answer, or if they do answer that they will get to you in time. I have emailed several places and only two have responded.

There is also no guarantee the celeb will respond. Does anyone know what kind of response Sara Evans has for venue addresses?

I also highly recommend that you send a photo and a SASE. I doubt she will have photos, envelopes, and stamps with her. If you just want her to sign a piece of paper you'll still need to send a SASE.
